Ophthalmology

Objectives:

  1. Understanding of role of primary physicians in prevention of vision loss.
  2. Extension of ocular examination skills.
  3. Increase knowledge of ocular diagnosis and treatment.
  4. Introduction to ocular surgery and ophthalmologic practice.

Description:

Report to the Medical Education Office (G-4), Professional Building South, at 8:30 a.m. on the first day of the rotation.

First two weeks

Mornings: Conference with director, library, surgery, observation, T.V. tapes.

Afternoons: Clinic at Summa Health System – Akron Campus. Observation and examination of patients with ophthalmology residents.

Second two weeks

Mornings: Surgery and clinic at Children's Hospital, Monday ­- Thursday.

Afternoons: Summa Health System – Akron Campus. Special procedures, surgery, laser, fluorescent angiography, ultrasound, and clinical observation.

Night Call/Special Requirements:

None
