A Letter from our Program Director
Established in 1942, the Obstetrics and
Gynecology Residency at Akron City Hospital
is one of the oldest accredited programs in
Ohio. We offer the academics of a high-caliber
university program in a community-based setting.
Our residency program is proudly recognized as one of the best in Ohio. We are fully
accredited by the ACGME. Our residents receive outstanding academic, clinical and
surgical experience. Evidence of this includes a 100% first time board passage rate,
CREOG scores that exceed the national average, and excellent placement into fellowships.
One of the most appealing aspects of our program is that all of the sub-specialties (MFM,
Urogyn, Gyn Onc, and REI) are located at our main Akron City campus. As such, our
residents benefit from doing all aspects of their training at a single institution.
We are excited to have a new labor & delivery, postpartum, antepartum, breast center,
and special care nursery that opened in May of 2019. This state of the art unit has further
solidified Summa Health as the leader in Women’s Health care in Northeast Ohio.
