Psychiatry Residency

The Summa Health Psychiatry Residency Program is ACGME approved and fulfills all of the requirements for certification eligibility of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Psychiatry Residency Program

Summa Health is the sponsoring institution for the Psychiatry Residency Program. Training activities take place at Summa Health System-Akron Campus, Akron Children's Hospital, and agencies of the County of Summit Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board, including Community Support Services, Portage Path Psychiatric Emergency Services, Psycho-Diagnostic Clinic and the Portage County Jail. The Psychiatry Program is ACGME approved and fulfills all of the requirements for certification eligibility of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. The residency is the affiliated residency of the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). 

The Psychiatry Residency Offers:

  • Emphasis on psychotherapy with competency in pharmacotherapy
  • Full-spectrum of mental health issues treated, including severe mental illness and substance abuse
  • Teaching faculty are consistently available and committed to teaching
