Founders' Day
Founders' Day is an integral part of the legacy of the co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous. Each June, Akron welcomes over 10,000 visitors from around the globe who gather to celebrate and participate in The Fellowship of the Spirit. The event offers a unique opportunity to connect with others and reflect on the shared journey of recovery.
Summa Health is proud to be a part of the rich history of Alcoholics Anonymous. We invite you to visit us and explore the connections between our organization and the legacy of recovery.
Visitors are welcome at the Juve Family Behavioral Health Pavilion, where they can explore the Heritage Center, Reflection Center and Serenity Garden. These spaces provide opportunities for learning, contemplation and peaceful reflection.
The Heritage Center was created to pay tribute to the history of Sister Ignatia and St. Thomas Hospital in the treatment of alcoholics, as well as the relationship between Dr. Bob and the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous. Visitors can view historical materials, listen to a recording of Sister Ignatia and gain a deeper understanding of this important legacy.
