Meet the Addiction Medicine Team
The Summa Health Behavioral Health Institute includes a team of dedicated professionals who specialize in addiction medicine.
Medications Available
- Vivitrol® (naltrexone for extended-release injectable suspension), is a once-monthly injection that does not lead to physical dependence. It reduces cravings and feelings of euphoria for individuals with alcohol and/or opiate addiction.
- Sublocade®, also administered once-monthly, is a form of opioid replacement therapy that safely replaces the drug of dependence to reduce cravings and prevent withdrawal.
- Brixadi®, used to treat moderate to severe opioid addiction, offered as once-a-week or once-a-month treatment.
Oral medications:
- Suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone) - designed to help manage opiate addiction.
- Disulfiram - acts as a chemical deterrent from alcohol consumption.
- Acamprosate - restores balance of neuromodulators in the brain and reduces alcohol cravings.
In conjunction with the team of addiction medicine physicians providing medication-assisted treatment in an office-based setting, Summa Health also offers several medications to clinically qualifying patients who desire pharmacological assistance as they progress along the path toward recovery. These medications can help with insomnia, nightmares, anxiety, restlessness and other symptoms that often accompany the early stages of recovery.
