Intensive Outpatient Programs

Research shows that mental health symptoms vary in intensity over time. Summa offers several Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) for a variety of needs. IOPs are designed for individuals who require a higher level of care than weekly or monthly treatment can provide. Programs usually run three to four days a week for several hours a day, designed to accommodate work and family life.

With IOPs you are able to establish a foundation for long-term recovery. We offer IOPs in the areas of general psychiatry, addiction medicine and trauma.

General Psychiatry Intensive Outpatient Program

Summa Health’s Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program provides group-based treatment to those with a wide range of mental health concerns. Patients discharged from inpatient care will benefit from this program, as well as patients who do not require hospitalization but need more psychiatric care than weekly outpatient programs can provide. Available days or evenings, the program runs three or four days a week, three hours a day, for an average of 15 to 20 sessions. This treatment is designed to accommodate work and family life and also includes a weekly family program.

Addiction Medicine Intensive Outpatient Program

The Summa Health Addiction Medicine Intensive Outpatient Program is a group therapy treatment program for those struggling with addiction issues. Available days or evenings, the program runs three days a week, three hours a day, for an average of 15 to 20 sessions. There also is a dual diagnosis track for those whose addiction recovery is significantly impacted by mental health symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma. Summa Health’s program supports both abstinence-based and harm-reduction treatment programs. Summa Health encourages the use of the 12-step recovery model, as well as family involvement in the treatment process. This program is available in four locations, days and evenings, where you can get addiction medicine help.
