Green Bottle highlights Sloane’s mastery of color and shape through a composition that is both simple and striking. Using the screenprint process, she layers flat, saturated tones to create a sense of balance and stillness. The bold green bottle at the center becomes an anchor for surrounding forms, demonstrating her interest in turning everyday objects into strong, graphic statements. The clean lines and intentional spacing reflect her Pop Art influence, while the richness of the palette echoes her admiration for artists like Matisse. This work captures Sloane’s ability to bring warmth and clarity to familiar subjects, making them feel both accessible and visually uplifting.

Phyllis Sloane was a dedicated printmaker and painter whose work is known for its bold color, clarity, and approachable style. She studied at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and, early in her career, was influenced by Abstract Expressionism before moving toward the clean lines and vibrant palette associated with Pop Art. Restoring her own printing press sparked a lifelong passion for experimentation in printmaking. Over her 60-year career, Sloane exhibited widely, and her work now appears in major museum and corporate collections across the country.
