Welcome to the Summa Medical Simulation Fellowship website and thank you for your interest in our program! As the first Simulation Fellowship in the state of Ohio, we are proud of the positive impact our graduates have had on our community and their continued impact as leaders within the entire simulation community. We work diligently to empower our fellows to be leaders in medical education, research, simulation, and patient safety. Summa Health is a large healthcare delivery network of hospitals, outpatient clinics, a health insurance plan, and research institutions in Northeast Ohio. With a number of residency programs and fellowships, as well as an affiliation with Northeast Ohio Medical University. Summa has a long history and focus on medical education.

Our fellowship program includes time spent performing simulation at several Summa Health Facilities. Summa Akron Campus, a level 1 trauma center and the flagship hospital of Summa Health with more than 700 inpatient beds and growing with the addition of our new tower! The Akron Campus Simulation Lab consists of an operating suite, 2-bay ER/ICU suite, maternity suite, outpatient office suite, 3-control rooms, task trainer room, virtual medicine suite, and a large classroom. This location is equipped with complete audio and video recording capabilities using CAE Learning Space. Also located at our Akron Campus is our research and development location consisting of 2-fully functioning operating theaters, microsurgical/vascular skills operating room, and procedural prep and practice suites. Our Gorge Simulation Lab provides opportunities to work with larger sized groups and includes 2 control rooms and 6 patient bays. This lab encompasses 10,000 modifiable square feet and is equipped with our CAE Learning Space recording software. At our Gorge facility, we host regional training for ATLS and TNCC. In situ training occurs at all of our Summa Health Hospitals.
