Traumatic Stress Center

The Traumatic Stress Center is committed to providing compassionate, person-centered, evidence-based care to prevent and respond to trauma-related conditions. Our team strives to provide treatment that supports the health, safety and personal freedom of our patients.

The Traumatic Stress Center includes therapists with expertise in assessing, diagnosing and treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related problems in individual and couples’ therapy. Our team uses a person-centered, trauma-informed approach. This means we work to build safety and trust by being transparent and collaborative, by including your cultural preferences as we work toward your goals.

Our Services

Treatment is offered in four phases, including prevention. Patients can participate in any phase of treatment, depending upon clinical need. During the assessment, a treatment plan is made collaboratively with one of our providers. All phases include individual, couples and group options.

Phase I: Prevention

Employing a public health model, the Traumatic Stress Center offers treatment designed to build safety for patients who may be experiencing risk factors for future violence, including intimate partner or sexual violence, and human trafficking. This includes individual therapy and group options. Treatment duration can range from 6-16 weeks.

Phase II: Skills Building

Patients and their families learn about PTSD and how to respond to it more effectively. Some patients may need this support before engaging in trauma processing. Treatment duration will depend upon clinical need.

Phase III: Trauma Processing

Patients talk or write about their traumatic experiences and examine how trauma impacted their health and relationships. This phase is time-limited, ranging from 12-16 weeks. This includes cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure and written exposure therapy.

Phase IV: Post Traumatic Growth

Patients in this phase of treatment explore how their values can direct their lives, creating more meaning and freedom. Treatment duration depends upon clinical need.

Working together, we can design a treatment plan that will meet your individual needs.
