On April 24, 2018, Summa Health held a “topping off” ceremony as a crowd gathered in an adjacent building to watch a massive crane raise a banner – signed by hundreds of Summa Health employees – to the top of the new patient tower. It was a significant milestone as the heavy crane work was nearly complete and the building will soon see exterior walls covering the concrete structure.
A hearty crowd braved the elements and heard from President and CEO Dr. Cliff Deveny and a “Top Ten Tower Tidbits” list delivered by Dr. David Custodio, President, Akron & St Thomas Campuses and Lorie Rhine, Chief Nursing Officer for Akron & St Thomas Campuses.
When completed, the seven-story patient tower will feature private patient rooms, expanded surgery suites, a multi-purpose conference center and the Dr. Gary B. and Pamela S. Williams Center for Breast Health.
