The Summa Health Equity Center recognizes the benefits of wellness and prevention as a part of your overall good health. Our collaborative team will work closely with you to develop safe and healthy exercise and nutrition plans that meet your personal health and fitness goals, all to help you get healthy – and stay healthy.
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced fitness guru, Zumba is a great alternative to traditional fitness programs and can feel more like a party than a workout!
Yoga has been shown to increase muscle strength, reduce weight, improve immune systems, lower blood pressure and reduce stress and anxiety. But you don’t have to go to a pricey yoga studio to get a great workout. The Summa Health Equity Center offers community yoga classes taught by experienced, certified instructors who will lead you through a slow-paced yoga class, perfect for beginner and intermediate participants.
If you are overweight or have a family history of diabetes or high blood pressure, you can take advantage of this complimentary 15-week community program. Featuring a health assessment, cooking demonstrations, nutrition classes, group exercise and more, the SWEET Life provides practical ways to help you improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sessions are led by counselors who specialize in nutrition and behavioral wellness.
Eligible participants must be:
• 18 years of age and older
• Not pregnant
• Not diabetic
• Willing to make small lifestyle changes

Chef Glenn from Edgar’s restaurant in Akron shared a holiday cooking demonstration with us. He explored small changes to an entrée, side dish and dessert in order to make them healthier – all without sacrificing taste, of course!
