The purpose of the internship program is to provide a practical experience for the pharmacy student to gain knowledge in a health-system pharmacy under the guidance of pharmacy preceptor.
The internship is a summer commitment for a minimum of two years, with year-round weekend/school break opportunities as the student is available. The intern performs the duties/functions of the pharmacy technician including but not limited to, unit dose, IV admixture, compounding and inventory control. Opportunities to complete projects, participate in educational and patient-care activities are made available to the intern as they arise based on departmental needs.
Candidates must be enrolled in a College of Pharmacy and have completed the P1 year of a P4 program or the P2 year of a P6 program. Applicant must also possess an Ohio internship license. A minimum of two years summer commitment is expected with additional hours throughout the academic year as student is available. The number of interns hired in any given year will depend on the number of current positions available.
