Each resident is required to complete a longitudinal pharmacy practice related project which is led, facilitated, and managed by the pharmacy resident as the formal component of the residency experience. The project may be clinical, translational, or outcomes based, and research or quality improvement in nature. A sample list of ideas from preceptors will be available for guidance, but residents are encouraged to come up with their own original idea if interested. The selected project will be a benefit to the department, institution, and clinical literature and must be completed within the residency year. The project will be finalized with completion of a manuscript. Throughout the year the resident will receive guidance and research support from various individuals within the Pharmacy Department and Summa Research Department.
