Summa Health Sports Medicine Fellowship is a 1-year ACGME accredited program that incorporates an integrated and progressive MSKUS curriculum for the fellows’ learning experience. During the year, the fellow will become familiar and competent with MSKUS as it pertains to Sports Medicine for diagnostic and procedure purposes.
MSKUS curriculum: The MSKUS curriculum is integrated into and taught during the academic year the Sports Medicine fellow is completing the training. MSKUS instruction is provided by experienced attending physicians. MSKUS skills assessments are evaluated during the year of training and the curriculum is updated annually to best keep up with the advances in medicine, technology, and the fellows’ needs.

Handheld MSKUS VScan Air to help accelerate learning outside of clinic and simulation lab time

Curriculum Goal: At the end of the training year, the fellow will be able to utilize ultrasound for MSK scanning, as well as to become more proficient in acquiring and interpreting images. They will also be able to use MSKUS to improve accuracy and effectiveness of Sports Medicine procedures, including tenotomy, regenerative medicine procedures, trigger finger releases, etc. The curriculum follows the recommendations from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM).
