Senior leaders from Summa Health visited Florida once again for the health system’s annual Florida outreach events on February 14 and 15, 2017. The Annual Dinner in Florida featured the presentation, Your Heart Health - In Your Own Hands: The Power of Coordinated Care at Summa Health, delivered by interventional cardiologist Peter Bittenbender, MD, Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program at Summa Health. Guests were delighted to meet Shannon Sansom, a Summa Health patient who credits the coordinated care her Summa Health team provided with saving her life after suffering a life-threatening heart attack. A video highlighting Shannon's incredible story of survival can be seen below.
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of Jim and Vanita Oelschlager's continued commitment to behavioral health at Summa Health. Their latest gift creates the Jim and Vanita Oelschlager Chair in Traumatic Stress. The inaugural chair holder, Patrick Palmieri, PhD, was announced at the February 15 event in Naples, Florida, to a crowd of over 150 Summa Health friends and benefactors.
