At the December meeting of The Circle of Women's Health Philanthropists we met Shelby, a patient of the Summa Health Women’s Center. Shelby became addicted to opiates prior to becoming pregnant and sought help for her addiction six weeks into her pregnancy. The centering program helped her to safely withdraw from opiates and begin her journey to sobriety and a healthy pregnancy. On October 21, 2016, Shelby gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Kelsey. Shelby credits Summa Health and her nurse, Karen Frantz, for her sobriety and for supporting her throughout her pregnancy. Please visit the centering program website and watch a segment from WKYC TV3 to learn more about the Summa Health Women’s Center and how it is helping women in our community.
